Thanks YouTube! Instructional breast-feeding video becomes porn overnight

A goodwill gesture quickly became pornographic for one New Jersey mother. In 2010, 35-year old mom MaryAnn Sahoury uploaded an instructional breastfeeding video to YouTube. She did this to help other mothers who were having trouble breastfeeding their babies.
When Sahoury uploaded the video, she thought that it would help viewers of Parents TV, which uploads original clips about childrearing.
Well, Sahoury got a fast lesson in how the internet really works.
As any video with boobs is prone to do, the instructional breastfeeding video was soon being watched by more than just frustrated mothers and hungry newborns. A few months later, Sahoury searched her name and was “horrified” to find a video in which somebody had spliced her breastfeeding video with hardcore pornography. Uh oh!
In that video, somebody had twisted the original breastfeeding clip and had turned it into something much more sinister. Although Sahoury worked for “days and nights” trying to shut down the sites hosting the video, it’s pretty tough to remove something like that from the internet.
In a disgusting twist, Sahoury’s daughter’s name, when Googled, will also come up with a plethora of pornographic results. That’s bad.
Why are we telling you this story now? Well, today, MaryAnn Sahoury’s case is going to court. She’s suing the Iowa-based company that produced the video and she wants compensation for damage to her reputation.
It can be frustrating to search the internet for your own name only to find porn (just look what comes up when you search “Asian” in Google Images). Sahoury hopes her efforts will lead to greater internet protection for mothers around the world.
