So we know we are a little late with this story, but there is a little drama going back and forth between two powerhouses in the industry, Will Ryder (King of Parodies) and Derek Hay (owner of  LA Direct Models). We won’t go into too much detail or bore you with the extremely long emails that have been posted on other sites. We’ll just tell you the gist of the story. Here’s our shorter version of the story. Will Ryder feels that he has the right to offer whatever he wants to pay for talent because of all the award winning movies he has produced. He feels the publicity and accolades they can gain will make up for the difference in the rates. Derek Hay feels like it’s his talent that helps make Will’s movies. He believes his rates are standard industry rates and Mr. Ryder needs to stop trying to low ball him and his talent.

So who’s in the wrong here? The award winning director who wants to hire talent but at a lower rate than standard industry rates or the agent who is “trying” to look after his talent and get them the industry standard rates during these hard economic times? Actually if you have ever been on this site, you know we don’t really care. What we really want to know is, Who do you think would win in a fight? Derek Hay or Will Ryder?
